Seoul National University, composed of the graduate schools and 9 colleges, was established as the national university in August 1946.
Faced with the 21st century of globalization and knowledge informatization, Seoul National University is nurturing competent people leading the international society from the core domains of the knowledge-based society, such as education, technology and culture, while conducting education and researches at a world level by leaping into the world class comprehensive research university.
Seoul National University Museum
The museum has about 4,400 historical items, 2,500 folk items, and tens of thousands of archaeological finds, and part of them are displayed alternatively at regular intervals.
It is one of the best among university museums in terms of the quality and quantity of its possessions, and excellent relics, such as relics from the Balhae era, paintings, calligraphic works, and folk relics, are included as a part of its possessions that cannot be found even at the National Museum.
Gyujanggak
Gyujanggak has been well preserved in its traditional tile-roofed form since the Joseon Dynasty. It houses a huge number of valuable books, such as 5 kinds of national treasures including「Sipchilsachan Gogeumtongyo」, and 7 kinds of treasures including「Jebosalmanhaengsuneungeomgyeong of Daebuljeongyoraemininsujeungyo」.
